Oil barons, roughnecks — these words given us by the petroleum business have long made it seem like it’s solely the realm of men. “Anomalies: Pioneering Women In Petroleum Geology 1917-2017,” a new book by Denverite Robbie Gries, paints a different picture. She tells Colorado Matters host Ryan Warner about the stories of female petroleum geologists going back a hundred years who battled sexism and raised families while making significant scientific discoveries.
