An old postcard shows a young woman on horseback in midair as the pair leaps from a huge tower, while a huge crowd looks on. The image is both fascinating and disturbing. Turn the postcard over and you’ll discover the photograph may have been taken in Pueblo, Colorado in 1905. What is the history behind this strange Colorado image? This image that both disturbs you and intrigues you. Jeremy Johnston, the curator of the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody, Wyoming, tells Colorado Matters that the woman astride the diving horse may have been part of a travelling show operated by a sharpshooter named Doc Carver.
