Crypto-Jews will gather in Denver next week

Some Hispanic families in Colorado have a secret – their Jewish heritage. These so-called “Crypto-Jews” are descendants of Conversos, Jews forced to convert to Catholicism during the Spanish Inquisition 500 years ago. That’s when Judaism became a matter of life and death. The Society for Crypto-Judaic Studies meets in Denver Sunday, June 30 -Tuesday, July 2. Coloradan Donna Medina will be there to deepen her understanding of her own Crypto-Jewish identity. Listen to her story as part of the Colorado Matters podcast.
